I once wrote a post that I was sure would blow up.
It had a catchy hook.
It had a clean graphic.
I even hit publish at the "perfect" time.
And then… nothing.
A few likes.
A couple of comments.
Dead silence after that.
At first, I thought the algorithm had it out for me.
But then I went back and read the post with fresh eyes.
Here is what I noticed:
→ I wrote it for me, not my audience.
→ It was polished, but not personal.
→ It showed information, but no story.
That flop was the wake-up call I needed.
I stopped writing posts that looked like marketing campaigns.
I started writing posts that sounded like conversations.
When I shifted from "what do I want to say" to "what do they need to hear," everything changed.
Engagement went up.
DMs turned into real conversations.
Leads came without me asking.
The post that flopped taught me more than the ones that worked.
Because it reminded me that attention is earned, not engineered.
